Rapid growth of computer and internet has influenced our daily lives very much. Computer Engineering is one of the fastest growing engineering fields for the past two decades. Computer engineering is the branch of engineering that integrates electronic engineering with computer science in order to design and develop computer systems and other technological devices. Computer engineers use their extensive knowledge of hardware and software design and computer programming to make computing platforms and applications more efficient and effective. Computer engineers have 2 major career options- Software and Hardware engineering. As hardware engineers they work on computer systems and all components used to make a computer. As software engineers they test and work with computer programs, applications, network security, mobile and other computer operated devices.

The Department of Computer Engineering was established in the year 1998. The department offers three years Diploma Course in Computer Engineering under the State Board of Technical Education, Kerala. The course is focused on the areas such as digital logic, system architecture, microprocessors, data structures and algorithms, operating systems, databases, web programming, computer networks, software engineering etc. The department aims at providing basic knowledge and expertise in computer science to meet the professional challenges in the job market.

The department has well qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty providing excellent teaching & learning environment. The current intake of the course is 63 for regular students and 15 for hearing impaired. The Eligibility criteria for admission is 10th pass with Science, Maths and English as compulsory.

The department also provides lateral entry to 2nd year for candidates passed +2/equivalent (2 years of study) examination with Mathematics, English, Physics and Chemistry, after matriculation (SSLC or equivalent).
